For a long time, taking the crown at the Red Bull King of the Air was the most coveted prize in Kiteboarding.
Last weekend, thanks to huge efforts from key people like Ruben Lenten and Robby Naish, made it possible to bring it back to life.
I’m beyond proud of my little friend Jesse Richman for taking the title!
Check out all the action :
Last weekend I was invited to attend the Red Bull Sun Slide and the 4th edition of the annual Punta Cana Kite Fest held in Punta Cana.
For 3 days, the elite of Dominican kiteboarding came together at this incredible spot and we were even lucky enough to have Aaron Hadlow as our international guest superstar.
Since I was the only girl competing in the slider category, I was incredibly happy about the fact that I kicked some serious boys’ butt and managed to make it all the way into the final with Aaron. Guess all that time practicing with Andre Phillip in my backyard has really payed off !!!
A huge thanks goes out to Red Bull Caribbean and to Jon from Kite Club for their amazing effort to make this event happen!
More info can be found here.
I’m excited to be home in the DR for a little while and even though the wind never picked up today, our Christmas swell is still delivering some epic surf sessions.
Hope you are all having a wonderful time wherever you are and if you’re not out kiting then I hope you’re getting your fair share of X-mas presents and booze.

Ok, so unless we all live for 100 more years, we’re never gonna see this date again. I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to post a little video from our Cabrinha team trip to Saba Rock in the BVIs this spring.
CAUTION: This video might trigger an uncontrollable urge to book flights there immediately so lock up your credit card before you watch it

This year I was lucky enough to be invited to the first ever KiteJam in Maui, HAWAII.
Bringing together amateur and professional kiteboarders from all over the world, the four-day-long event delivered first-class kiteboarding conditions, clinics, gear demos, incredible parties, great food, world-class music (including a performance from Taimane), a “jam-style” competition, luxurious accommodations at the Hotel Wailea Maui, a swimwear fashion show by Letarte, and much more.
“Our events showcase the fun, social side of the sport and show that it’s something that’s accessible to people from all walks of life,” said Charlie Smith, Virgin Kite Jam co-founder. “Our amateur Kite Jammers get to kite with and learn from their idols as well as making new friends and acquaintances,” he added.
Pete Cabrinha, Susi Mai, Andre Phillip, Niccolo Porcella, Lou Wainman, Jesse Richman, Annabel van Westerop, Kris Kinn and Jeremy Lund were a few of the legendary kiteboarders to attend.
Virgin Kite Jam Maui sponsors include: Billabong, XPERIA Sony Smartphone, Cabrinha, REBOOTizer, Hotel Wailea Maui, Kona Brewing Company, and Kurtis USA.
Don’t miss the next jam, in the kiteboarding utopia of the British Virgin Islands. Scheduled for July 7 to 12, the Virgin Kite Jam BVIs will take place on the legendary island of Anegada, as well as Sir Richard Branson’s Necker Island and the surrounding areas. Updates with more info will be available at www.VirginKiteJam.com.
Hope to see you there

It’s been 7 years now and I finally made it back to what is definitely one of my favorite countries in the world!
I’m here filming a documentary with Red Bull and to watch my boyfriend race in the WEC 6 Hours of Fuji.
Unfortunately it’s only a short visit this time and I won’t be able to make it to Okinawa where I visited last time and where all the awesome kite spots are, but here are some pics from 2005

Once again, I was lucky enough to be able to participate in The Butterfly Effect.
This gathering of water-women is always truly inspiring and gives us the chance to meet up and share our passion.
Here’s a video of the event, stay tuned, lots of fun photos coming soon.
