Thanks to our awesome community of earth-loving people, we were able to raise 15K last night in support of the Cinematic Feature Documentary EATING OUR WAY TO EXTINCTION.
Special thanks go out to SKYCATCH and their team for hosting us and for believing in the cause, Dave Kim for playing tunes, Kym McNicholas for helping us host, Oak Ridge Winery for the delicious beverages and our generous donors for supporting the cause.
HELLO FROM THE
SNOW
This winter I decided to make the most of the epic snow conditions up in BC and become better friends with this form of water.
Being a kiteboarder doesn’t exactly allow much time in the mountains in general, but as I venture towards new horizons I find myself chasing powder all over the place, making rad friends on the way and loving this new-found adrenaline kick.
LADIES ONLY
OCEAN GODDESS RETREAT II
April 5 - 9
Let's face it, we all know girls shred harder with other girls.
In our experience, having other females around who are going for it in life is the most motivating and empowering thing ever.
We have designed a retreat that will get you on the water and get you fit and healthy - all without the guys!
Hosted by a team of professionals, you will spend your days doing water sports, eating yummy food, doing yoga and much more. You can step up your surfing and kitesurfing game or just hang back and relax in between the yoga sessions.
In every single thing we do, we are conscious of the environment and our local community. For you, this is a completely guilt-free trip, optimized to make you feel super healthy and fresh.
Our motto has always been "leave a place better than you find it" so we are partnering with the Mariposa Foundation. A part of each ticket sold will go towards beach cleanups, organized and executed by awesome young women who surf and love the ocean as much as you do.
You will leave our retreat refreshed, with new friends, new water skills and best of all - a tan :)
Hope to see you there,
Xoxo

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT
PETER MACINTOSH
In 1993, after a short-lived professional soccer career, Peter decided to leave his hometown of Halifax, Nova Scotia for Japan.
It was Kyoto, the ancient capital and cultural hub, that captivated and inspired him to pick up his camera and begin a new life in the arts.
It didn’t take long for him to find his niche, the Karyukai, the world of the Geisha.
Peter soon was taken under the wings of many established members of Kyoto society, which opened many doors to him and his craft.
Known well by all the locals as the strange foreigner who wears kimono and speaks the local dialect like a native, he has integrated into the community.
Peter has trained his eye to capture the real beauty of his subjects and their world with appreciation and understanding of their vigorous artistic training.
This, combined with his western upbringing, gives him a unique perspective to create a fusion of traditional and modern techniques, which he incorporates in all his work.
He exhibits regularly and his works are collected by patrons from around the world.ENTER THE SECRET WORLD
OF GEISHA
On March 3, Kyoto came to Brooklyn!
We experienced the ancient rituals of singing, food, dance and games performed by authentic Geisha from Japan. Our very special evening was hosted by international artist, Geisha expert and the evening’s interpreter, Peter Macintosh. He shared his artwork and insights from living a quarter century immersed in the lovely and mysterious world of Geisha.
The Geisha (known as Geiko and Maiko) are highly refined entertainers that have mastered the art of performance and social games. Their traditional song, dance, and games are off-limits even to most Japanese — so it was a great treat to see them perform. Peter’s artwork and cultural expertise rounded off a fantastic evening that we will definitely be repeating!MAI / SHOP
EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO SHRED
I am proud to announce my very own private online e-store, which will provide my community with a portal to research, compare, and access premium equipment.
Curated and tailored to your needs, this will be the one place that has all the things you need to shred.
Drawing on the expertise of professional athletes, the mission of Mai Shop is to provide a place where we can share knowledge and support riders in future endeavors.
MAI/SHOP will be launching in April and there will be more information and promotions in the coming weeks.
I am looking forward to growing this venture so that next time you go out, you are riding the perfect gear.
Stoked,
